What to Drink During Dry January

December 29, 2021

With Dry January right around the corner, you may be asking yourself what to replace that holiday cocktail with at your next party of the season. Don’t worry - we’ve got you covered. While you put in the effort to better your mental health, physical state, and overall well-being during your month-long booze break, we’ll lay out some great-tasting, alcohol-free drink alternatives.

Homemade Creations

1. Cran-Raspberry Martini

Created by dietician Lara Metz, this mocktail mimics a combination of a cosmo and a martini - minus the vodka, of course. All you’ll need is 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice, ½ cup of your favorite raspberry seltzer or sparkling water, a splash of all-natural cranberry juice or juice cocktail, and 1 tablespoon of crushed raspberries. To make the drink simply combine the first three ingredients and pour them into a martini glass. Slide a couple of raspberries on a toothpick to garnish, and voila!

2. Virgin Sangria

Sangria is a drink perfect for all seasons. In the summer, it’s refreshing, cool, and sweet. In the winter, it’s still all of those things - but a simple addition of a cinnamon garnish can give it a bit of holiday spice, too! With this recipe, you can let the fruit be the star and get creative with your ingredient combinations. We suggest cranberries, orange slices, and rosemary for the holiday season.

3. Moscow Mule Mocktail

With a spiced ginger flavor, a Moscow Mule is an excellent drink choice for your next winter get-together. This recipe requires minimal changes to the original - just swap out the vodka for soda water.

4. The Sweet Adeline

This warm and calming drink recipe from Spruce Eats is the perfect way to spice up your next after-dinner beverage. It’s prime for a cold evening and only has five ingredients including black tea, cinnamon, and pomegranate juice making for a simple and soothing nighttime sip.

5. Virgin Bloody Mary

There’s something about the flavor profile of a Bloody Mary that compliments a chilly winter morning. Whether you’re watching the game or gathered around the fire with family or friends, try skipping the vodka to make this delicious virgin bloody recipe
